2025 Cross- Border Table Tennis Tournament, organised by the Tuaran District Table Tennis Association (PERSATUAN PING PONG DEARAH TUARAN), has garnered an enthusiastic response! A total of 150 entries has been received.
The tournament boasts a stellar line-up of players, including Sabah champion Alan Au, state representatives Zamiil, Rizuan, Zaini, Voo Zheng Yan, Asman… promising fiercely contested matches.
Dr Chung Tat Vui, advisor to the Tuaran Table Tennis Association, remarked today that this overwhelming response is highly encouraging, demonstrating Sabah’s thriving table tennis community.
This tournament, open to all regions and ethnicities, will be held on the 20th and 21st of this month at the SB Table Tennis Hall in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu. Total prize money exceeds ten thousand Ringgit!
The Open category will commence on the 20th, comprising men’s and women’s singles and doubles. The following day will feature competitions for children under 12, also divided into boy’s and girl’s singles and doubles.
Medals and cash prizes will be awarded to the top four winners in each category. Additionally, consolation prizes will be given to those placing fifth to eighth.
Beyond welcoming Malaysian adult and junior players, the tournament extends an open invitation to international participants. This aims to foster unhindered connections through table tennis, thereby elevating the sport while promoting social integration.
Dr Chong Tat Wei stated that matches commence at 8:00 AM. Players arriving five minutes late will be deemed to have walk over their match; punctuality is essential. The Open category closing ceremony and awards presentation is scheduled for 3:20 PM on coming monday, while the Children’s category closing is expected at 12:30 PM next day.
He further reminded competitors that white shirts are not allowed during matches.
Participants are also advised that, due to limited parking, they should arrange for collection/drop-off where possible or carpool.
