Tuaran Table Tennis Association Organised Umpire Training Camp
(Kota Kinabalu, 17th) The Tuaran Table Tennis Associatio recently organised a table tennis umpire training camp with the aim of nurturing more qualified umpires for the state’s table tennis scene.
Mdm Zhao Minhua, a Chinese National First-Class umpire, served as the instructor for this training camp. With her extensive refereeing experience and dedication to community service, she was more than happy to share her knowledge and expertise in table tennis officiating.
Over 20 young people signed up to participate in the training camp. In addition to explaining the rules of table tennis in a straightforward manner, Zhao also provided on-the-spot demonstrations, from which the attendees benefited greatly. The organisers are deeply grateful to Mdm Zhao for her assistance.
The training camp took place at 1.00 pm the previous afternoon at the SB Table Tennis Hall in Sunny Garden, Kota Kinabalu, and lasted for three hours. The training covered topics ranging from how umpires should enter the court alongside players and how to call the score, to the circumstances under which a red card should be shown…
Kapitan Lee Chee Fat, President of the Tuaran Table Tennis Association, said that as the number of table tennis enthusiasts in Sabah continues to grow and competitions become increasingly frequent, it is now a matter of urgency to train more qualified table tennis umpires in order to keep pace with the future development of the sport.
Before the training camp concluded, the Association’s adviser, Dr Chung Tat Vui, presented a commemorative gift to instructor Zhao Minhua as a token of gratitude.
